What You Actually Need to Start AI-Assisted Coding in Karachi

Parents often assume a coding course means buying an expensive machine. Usually it does not. Here is the honest list.

The laptop

Any working laptop from roughly the last eight years is fine for learning Python. 4GB of RAM is workable, 8GB is comfortable. You do not need a graphics card, and you do not need a new machine — this is text, not video editing.

If there is no laptop at home, tell us. Students use the machines at the academy during onsite batches, and we would rather have the student than the equipment.

Internet

This one is less negotiable, because AI tools work over the internet. A normal home connection is plenty; the traffic is text. Mobile data works for a session but gets expensive as a daily habit.

Load-shedding is the real planning problem here, not bandwidth. Students who work in short focused blocks and save often lose less than those who plan long evening sessions.

Accounts you will need

• An email address — the student's own, not a shared family one.
• A Claude account for Claude Code. The free tier is enough to learn on.
• A GitHub account — free, and it becomes the portfolio you show clients later.

For students under 18 we ask that a parent knows the passwords and can sign in. That is a safeguarding rule, not a formality.

What it costs per month

Being direct, because vagueness here usually hides something:

• Software: Rs 0. Python is free, the editor is free, GitHub is free, and the free AI tier is sufficient for coursework.
• Internet: whatever you already pay. The course adds no meaningful data cost.
• Course fee: Rs 4,000/month currently, reduced from Rs 5,000.
• Optional later: a paid AI plan or a domain name if a student starts selling work. Neither is required to complete the course.

What you do not need

You do not need a gaming laptop, a paid AI subscription, a Udemy library, or a "certification". We do not issue certificates, because in this field a link to something you built settles the question faster than any certificate does.
